Personal Message from Steve Wells about the Values Intensive workshop:
For the past 12 years I have been teaching, researching, and using Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), Simple Energy Techniques (SET) and Provocative Energy Techniques (PET) to help people (and myself) to overcome emotional blocks such as fear, anxiety, hurt, anger and sadness, and to achieve their positive life goals.
I soon found however that working on the level of emotional symptoms wasn’t enough. For example, I found if I worked with someone on their fear or phobia but they had an underlying belief that they weren’t good enough, then even when their fear went away they soon found another reason to prove they were not good enough. There was something bigger we needed to work on, which was their underlying beliefs...
In the course of my experimentation I discovered that it is possible to use Energy Techniques not only to help you overcome specific negative states like fears and phobias, but also to create positive changes in underlying beliefs. I discovered a number of ways of working on negative beliefs, and neutralising their power.
Working on changing beliefs brought a whole new dimension into my practice, opening up possibilities that previously seemed closed to both me and my clients...
Of all the things I discovered, the most powerful has been how to apply these techniques to one of the most important types of beliefs of all, your values.
Values are your beliefs about what is most important. At their core, values are your beliefs about what is most important to feel (or avoid feeling).
Since values direct us towards what is most important to feel or avoid feeling they strongly influence, and even determine, our decisions - every decision we make is really an attempt to move towards feelings we want to experience and away from feelings we don’t want to experience.
Values beliefs are thus at the core of the true law of attraction because they determine what we will be attracted towards, or seek to achieve, and what we will be repelled by, or seek to avoid. If you believe that something will lead you toward one of your core positive (or “seek”) values, then you will tend to choose that. Not only that, it will be also easier for you to choose that because you will be attracted energetically towards it... and vice versa for your negative (or “avoid”) values.
Now here’s the challenge (actually there are several):
If you are like most people, you didn’t design your values; you are in many senses a “prisoner” to them, meaning you are drawn to do some things and drawn to avoid other things, and you don’t always know why. And some of the things you are drawn to do ultimately are good for you and some of them are not so good. And some of the things you are drawn to avoid, could be good for you if you were able to do them. Like taking risks for example, which is difficult when you have inherited a value of security first. But if security is a key value, you won’t get yourself to take risks - even reasonable ones - without suffering emotional stress. You will be trying to work against your own energy...
You try to do what you know (intellectually) is right for you now, but your internal emotional connections and beliefs sabotage your efforts. Faced with this, many people give up in frustration.
You see most of our values were created at an earlier time, when we were too young to do anything about them. They are energetic maps created for a territory that may no longer exist, but they continue to unconsciously guide our actions. And when we try to choose consciously to go in another direction, we come up against an energetic brick wall...
Values conflicts are thus at the core of procrastination, self-sabotage, and indecision. And conflicts in values, apart from leading to internal conflict, are also at the core of our conflicts with other people...
If you’ve found that working on just the behaviours or the surface emotions of such issues doesn’t lead to long term change, welcome to the club. Until I learned how to identify and work with the values beliefs underneath them, my progress was similarly limited...
Which brings me to the most exciting thing: the profound changes that occur for you once you learn how to treat your values beliefs using Energy Techniques.
I can say from personal experience that working on my values beliefs has opened up possibilities in my life that once seemed forever closed. I've experienced more joy, happiness, love, and true success than in all my previous years of learning and using personal change techniques combined.
Here are just some of the things I’ve found you can do:
When you get clear on your current driving values:
• You'll know what is most important to you and why
• You'll know why you get triggered the ways you do, and how to release the emotional connections you currently have to those triggers
When you iron out your internal values conflicts:
• You'll settle down the internal civil war and gain self-acceptance and inner peace of mind
• You'll realise how much of life is “Yes, and...” rather than “Either, or...”
• You'll gain an incredible sense of clarity and as a result
• You'll be empowered to make consistently better choices
When you release the “stoppers” attached to your values (that’s right, there are often forces in place that actually stop the flow, so you don’t get to feel the feelings you really want; as long as they are in place you never get to feel happy – until you learn to release them):
• You'll more easily experience the powerful emotional states that you’ve always wanted to feel
• You'll realise at a deep level (not just intellectually) that your success isn’t related only to achieving goals, yet when you do set goals, you will be drawn to achieve them and take action on them much more easily
• You will attract towards yourself the resources and people to help you, as you are putting out a “vibration”, of attraction rather than repulsion
When you get in touch and align with your true or ultimate values (I believe underneath your current values are your true values, your guidance system to a life of meaning and purpose):
• You'll know you are on track in your life, doing what is right for you
• You'll become known as someone who congruently walks their talk
• You'll create a life of true meaning and purpose
Why a Values Intensive?
Several years ago, I developed the concept of 100% YES! and designed a workshop to help participants to define their own version of success and clear the emotional barriers to going for their goals 100%. In this workshop, I taught how to work on beliefs, values and goals using Energy Techniques, but was only ever able to give people a taste of the power of energetic values work due to time constraints, yet this was consistently the part of the workshop which they reported as most powerful and life-changing. As a result, I decided to create an entire 2-day workshop focused around values and clearing values blocks and conflicts using Energy Techniques. This is the Values Intensive.
These 2 full days focus on what is most important to you in the entire world!
I show you how to use Energy Techniques to detach some of your strongest emotional hooks, in the service of revealing what is behind those hooks – your true or ultimate values. This, I believe, is the key to your ultimately finding and living a life of meaning and purpose, and finding the pathways to your own happiness and inner contentment.
I tell you that my personal work on values has been some the most meaningful work I have done in all my 45 years of living and 28+ years of learning and experimenting with personal change techniques, including (in the last 12 years) Energy Techniques like EFT, SET, and PET.
If you are a counsellor, helping professional, or Energy Practitioner, I can’t think of a more powerful set of processes to learn to help your clients.
I know from personal experience that learning to uncover and align your values is one of the most powerful things you can do to enhance your life.
Best wishes,
Steve Wells
PS: As always, I use both Simple Energy Techniques (SET) and Provocative Energy Techniques (PET), so you MUST have a working sense of humor and be unconcerned with politically incorrect language because PET plays with stereotypes and challenges rigid thinking patterns to promote thinking and feeling in new ways.
